With the announcement of Global Gathering in Perth this August came one criticism – that being Sasha (pictured), one of the world’s truly legendary DJ names and one half of famed duo Sasha & Digweed, was unable to make the Perth leg of the tour due to an earlier commitment to play in Japan on the same date. Since then Mellen Events, Future Entertainment, Ministry Of Sound Australia and the UK’s Angel Music Group have worked tirelessly to resolve the situation, responding to the call from Sasha’s loyal fans and dance music enthusiasts alike to BRING SASHA TO PERTH!
Well, people power has spoken, and here at Global Gathering HQ we are pleased as punch (and perhaps a little chuffed) to announce that Sasha has cancelled Japan on our behalf and will now be completing the entire Australian Global Gathering touring circuit throughout the last half of November, appearing at The Esplanade in Perth on November 23. Joining Sasha will be Ed Banger Records heavyweight Feadz as well as the cream of Australia’s DJing and production talent on a bill that already includes superstar names like Kraftwerk live, Mark Ronson & The Version Players live, Gorillaz Sound System, The Orb live and more. Since its launch in 2001, Global Gathering has become the world’s undisputed front-runner of dance festivals. A massive 50,000 revelers congregate annually from all corners of the globe at the renowned Long Marston Airfield in the last weekend in July, creating the biggest dance and live music weekender of the European summer. This year’s record attendance exceeded 55,000 and stood tall as the strongest performer amidst the myriad of UK festivals this summer.
Headliners Kanye West, Moby and Mark Ronson nailed their live sets leaving the entire audience breathless, whilst the likes of Armin van Buuren, John Digweed, Roger Sanchez, Above and Beyond and many other amazing superstar DJ’s rocked and rolled everyone in attendance.
This is a landmark union between Australia’s largest festival promoter and international touring agent, Perth’s biggest promoter of outdoor events, Australia’s most recognised dance music brand and record label, and the UK’s most successful dance festival promoters. The Ten Tenors will be performing their brand new show Nostalgica.
